The tail appears to be wagging the dog with this back-seat driver barking out orders to his owner. Ex-Spice Girl Geri Halliwell is on the receiving end as she is snapped leaving George Michael's birthday party with her pedigree chum Harry. The pair helped singer George celebrate in style at his home in Goring-On-Thames. But an insider close to Geri tells us the singer has set her sights on a new pal - Christina Aguilera. According to out mole, Geri, 31, has been inundating Aggie's aides with calls in the hope of a meeting. But our souce says: "So far she's had no luck. Geri Halliwell turned Stroppy Spice when she turned up at a Wimbledon press event but refused to take part. The singer attended a Lawn Tennis Association promotion as a guest of Duncan James from boyband Blue. Rumours have been circulating for months that the pair are an item, although this was strongly denied. Duncan spent half an hour at the Kids Zone in the grounds of Wimbledon helping to promote tennis for children by practising his serve and chatting with youngsters. Meanwhile, wearing a white v-neck top and a pale pink short skirt, 31-year-old Geri kept her head bowed and was enveloped by security as she attempted to fend off photographers. Duncan called Geri over to the serving area, but she refused to pick up a racket or ball and seemed desperate to leave. At one point she plaintively cried: "Duncan, come on. Come on." But the Blue singer, wearing combats, grey T-shirt and a baseball cap, continued chatting with children and LTA officials. His fastest serve reached 94 mph before he turned and said: "I want to get over 100 - what does Greg (Rusedski) do, about 130?" The 25-year-old then posed for photographers with an outsized racket as he helped publicise the game to young people. Both Geri and Duncan had tickets for Centre Court to watch Tim Henman in his fourth round match against Australian Mark Philippoussis. A spokeswoman for Geri said: "She was just there as Duncan's guest - they are not a couple."

Blue hunk Duncan James has laughed off reports he and former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell (pictured) are having a raunchy fling, but concedes he's always had a "thing" for her. The All Rise hitmaker - who is currently dating long term love Anya Lahiri - insists his relationship with the Look At Me singer is strictly platonic, despite the fact he has always had a crush on her. James explains: "I always had a thing for Geri. "Then, when I met her, she was going through her whole yoga-slimming-health-freak stage and was a bit standoffish and cold. "Then I met her again and she was lovely." As to how those rumours started, James explains: "We were asked to present Party in the Park together, and now we're 'having an affair'. "She's wicked. I love her to bits, but that's absolute crap. I'm not sleeping with her."

Geri Halliwell is doing what she should have done years ago ... getting singing lessons. The artist formerly known as Ginger Spice might have sold 40 million albums, had 11 #1 singles and been one fifth of Britain's most successful girl group, but a lack of vocal talent never bothered her before. I was never quite sure whether Geri or Posh was the worst singer in the Spice Girls — but at least Ms. Halliwell is finally doing something about it now. She is being taught by top voice coach Penny Davis who works with the National Theatre in London. A friend said: "Geri is loving getting professional help. It has made such a huge difference to her voice." "She had nodules on her throat, a condition which can be painful and affects singing. She recently had an operation to remove them." The pal added: "Penny has agreed to see Geri once a week to help improve her voice. She's one of the best in the business and Geri thinks she has done so much for her in just a few weeks. Since starting the lessons, she thinks she’s found new tones to her voice. She’s really excited about her new album and is proud of the new songs." Her spokesman confirmed my story and said: "After a throat operation it is a normal procedure to take some lessons to retrain your voice." It all sounds like a load of luvvie nonsense to me — but I hear Geri’s new material is actually pretty good. I kid you not. After her last duff album, Scream If You Wanna Go Faster, I didn’t have much hope for her new one being any good. But insiders in the Halliwell camp insist she sounds like Bette Midler on her new tracks. Geri is the only Spice Girl who hasn't been dumped by her record label. And while she might not have the most credibility in pop, she has achieved more No1s as a solo star than any other UK female. There was Mi Chico Latino, Lift Me Up, Bag It Up and her last chart-topper, It's Raining Men. Her first of seven #1's with the Spice Girls was Wannabe in 1996 and her last one was Viva Forever in 1998. Geri Halliwell must assume that everyone's still interested in every aspect of her life. Why else would she appear in another fly-on-the-wall documentary? If her walls get any more flies on them they'll need fumigating. The one-hour special has been commissioned by Channel Five and is being filmed by Tracy Shaw's estranged husband Robert Ashworth. It'll follow Geri and her little dog as she tries to prove there's more to her than being famous and good at yoga. The ginger yo-yo dieter is currently filming the movie adaptation of Viz comic characters Fat Slags. Let's hope it's better than her hammy cameo in Sex And The City, which was universally ridiculed. Speaking of universal ridicule, after a three-year break from music she's also recording a new solo album with help from Pete Waterman and Cathy Dennis. Geri's new best friend is Lee Ryan from Blue, who's filling a slot previously occupied by the likes of George Michael, Chris Evans and Robbie Williams. Forget rumours of Geri Halliwell releasing a cover of Madonna's Cherish. It has been revealed that the former Spice Girl is, in fact, going for a harder edge on her third and as-yet-untitled album. She is aiming for a sound like Dido's with a hint of soft rock - hence the cover of then 70's classic Substitue, which was first released by one-hit wonders Clout in 1978. A source in the Geri studio said, "She brings in all kinds of records that inspire her. This is going to be a Geri album we won't forget." Source: Private

Singer Geri Halliwell strides out in London’s Hyde Park ... wearing baggy bottoms, a vest and a peaked cap. The former Spice Girl looked slightly out of puff as she power walked in the sunshine. Geri, 31, has returned to the fuller-frame she was famous for in the Spice Girls’ early days. The svelte figure which she showed off in this bikini shot, above, may have gone.
