Geri Postpones Tour After Album Setback February 12, 2005

Geri Halliwell has been forced to postpone a tour of England and Ireland after failing to sell out a single venue.

The tour was originally planned for May, to coincide with the release of Geri's third album, however Innocent Records have now asked Geri to come up with some new material, apparently unimpressed with her efforts.

A source told The Mirror, "The plan was that Geri would release a single this month and put the album out in March. But they dropped off the release schedules.

"She's been working on her second solo comeback for more than three years now. It was scheduled for release last summer, there's no point her touring with just one single out."

A spokeswoman confirmed, "Currently in the midst of finishing her forthcoming album, Geri's new team have advised her to postpone her May UK tour. Innocent are excited about the new album and look forward to being able to promote it properly before Geri embarks on the tour."

Geri announced her plans to reinvent herself as a serious singer at the end of last year.

Geri Snubs The Spice Girls February 11, 2005

We know there's not been much love lost between the Spice Girls over the years - but is there a particular feud going on between Geri Halliwell and Mel B?

While Geri was perfectly happy to turn up with Mel C and Emma Bunton for the Christmas christening of Brooklyn and Romeo Beckham, apparently she's turned down a reunion dinner suggested by Mel B.

Over in the UK to promote her new movie, 29-year-old Mel - who now lives in Los Angeles - reportedly phoned round her former bandmates to see if they would like to meet up for dinner. But while Posh, Emma and Mel C were all up for it, Geri apparently snubbed the invite.

'Mel thought it would be really nice to get all of them back together and was hoping to book a table at The Ivy restaurant to catch up with everyone,' says an insider. 'But while she got positive responses from most of them, Geri simply turned around and said she was "too busy".'

'Emma is in America, Victoria is with her family in Madrid and Mel C is working on new material, so they are all busy,' continues the spy. 'But Geri clearly didn't want to meet up. And now Mel just thinks, "Sod it".'

Dear, dear, Geri. If you want your lover to get with your friends, don't you think it would be a good idea if you did, too?

Geri Attends Vienna Ball February 4, 2005
Permalink | Discuss

The 2005 version of the Opera Ball drew fewer protesters than usual.

Police recorded about 20 demonstrators in areas near the State Opera, where the ball - the top event of Vienna's social calendar - was held Thursday.

Among the 4,500 guests was former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell, who was invited by a wealthy Vienna businessman who brings celebrities to the ball in an attempt to attract publicity.

Mezzo-soprano Elina Garanca from Latvia and tenor Marcelo Alvarez of Argentina performed.

Police searched several people but made no arrests. Past balls have attracted larger crowds who have protested the exorbitant display of wealth.

The area surrounding the State Opera had been cordoned off as a security measure, and streetcar and bus traffic was interrupted for several hours around the centrally located opera house.

Tickets to the ball sold out long ago at prices starting at $280.
