"Geri Halliwell is an EMI Music artist and records for Innocent Records. Various rumors circulating today on celebrity websites are totally unfounded. Geri releases a new single 'Desire' on May 23 from her forthcoming album 'Passion' released June 6th and all of us at EMI are extremely excited about the music and are currently in the midst of working on a very strong campaign."

Contrary to a report regarding Geri being dropped by her record label, we would like to assure fans that this is NOT true.
An official statement is to follow.

Serious allegations coming in from PopBitch! PopBitch needs to be taken with a grain of salt. However in the past they have had reports that have turned up true a few days later, so take the following article as you wish. But please also don't just write this off as utter bullocks just because the single is out on the radio waves and there's an upcoming album the record company has the power to pull a record and an artist at any moment. Geri is not immune.
How sad: Geri Halliwell has finally been dropped by her record label, so we will never get to hear the fabulously awful album she has been labouring away at for the last few years (including a cover of Joni Mitchell's Big Yellow Taxi).
The storm clouds have been gathering for Geri. Her request for Freddie Ljundberg to star in her comeback video was met with derision. She has sacked so many managers she's now on her 13th
(surely a case of a poor workwoman blaming her tools). And recently she even fired her long-suffering publicist Jonathan Hackford. The
reason? She rang Jonathan up one day to say she was disappointed to only ever be in the tabloids and celebrity magazines, and that she only wanted "quality newspapers and magazines." Poor Jonathan couldn't suppress a laugh. And was promptly sacked.
It seems only yesterday that she was lecturing her record label staff that they were all "small cogs in the wheel that is Geri Halliwell" ... but now the cogs have taken their revenge. |

| Rumour: 'Desire' US Release |

Seems like next summer's music billboards will be hotter than imagined; Geri Halliwell intends to enter the competition with her album Passion. Halliwell recently announced that she would be releasing her album by June 6th. Halliwell had scheduled a tour earlier in May but, due to poor ticket sales, she cancelled it. But that did not make Halliwell stop working on the album's single; Desire, that is due to rock US radio stations and shops on May 28th. Other tracks in the album are Feel the Fear, Love Never Loved Me and Loving me back to Life.
Webmaster note: I've marked this as a rumour cause well, everytime Geri says she's going to release something in the US, she never does. This is a very unknown source that I've never heard of before, and finally May 28th is a Saturday. Music is released on Tuesday's in the US, not Saturdays.

'Desire' is the seductive new single from Geri Halliwell. Taken from her eagerly anticipated album, 'Passion' out June 6th, the new single is an infectious slice of sophisticated pop.
Perfectly showcasing the qualities that have made Geri one of the most successful women in British popular music, 'Desire' also finds Geri experimenting with her sound to electrifying effect.
The single, written by Geri with Henrik Korpi, Mathias Wollo, Terry Ronald and produced by Henrik Korpi and Blackcell, follows the top 5 success of her last single, 'Ride It'.
Geri describes the album as "a journey through a range of extreme emotions from passion and love through to fear." 'Desire' she places directly with the passionate and hedonistic side of the album and from the first listen it is easy to see why!
From its driving base line through to its utterly infectious and energizing chorus, the track is a sultry and mature example of what Geri describes as 'soulful pop'.
Geri Halliwell's success has been nothing less than impressive! As a solo artist she has released two Multi Platinum selling albums and racked up four number 1 singles. Add those number ones to all the chart toppers the Spice Girls achieved and Geri has the record for the most number ones by a female artist in the UK ever! |
