Fans Spice Up Geri's St. Tropez Trip July 13, 2005

PhotoSt Tropez welcomed another high-profile visitor this week as pop singer Geri Halliwell strolled the cobblestone streets of the French coastal getaway while on summer holiday.

Even in the celebrity-laden hotspot, where visitors are certainly used to seeing a fair share of famous faces, Geri was turning heads as she went shopping with a trio of female pals.

In a sweet gesture, the ex-Spice Girl stopped to pose for snapshots with some young fans, with both Geri and the two little girls looking thrilled to share the photo op.

The pop star is just the latest paparazzi-prone tourist jetting in to the trendy resort. In fact, fellow Spice Girl Victoria Beckham and her footballer husband David were recently spotted showing off their hot summer style - and sizzling physiques - on the Riviera resort's sun-drenched beaches.

George Persuades Geri & Mel B To End Feud July 11, 2005

Pop superstar George Michael has finally persuaded Geri & Melanie B. to end their long-running feud.

The pair fell out in 1998, after Halliwell accused Brown of forcing her to leave the world-conquering girl band.

And the red-headed singer was furious Brown refused to reunite with her former bandmates to play at London's star-studded Live 8 concert earlier this month (02JUL05). It would have been their first performance together in seven years.

But Michael reminded Halliwell about how successful the pop fivesome were, and convinced her to fly to Brown's Los Angeles home to overcome their differences.

An insider tells British newspaper the Daily Star, "Geri really wanted the Spice Girls to reform and perform at Live 8, but it was Mel B who was reluctant, saying it would have all been too rushed.

"Geri was really gutted because it was such a major part of history. But after she spoke with George, who had performed at Live 8, she started to reminisce about when the Spice Girls were huge and realised she misses Mel like mad.

"So after calling Mel, Geri decided she'll fly out to see her. And Mel was pretty pleased about it. She's made plans for them to go surfing, and go for all out girlie pampering at a salon in Santa Monica. They could well discuss the possibility of a reunion next year."

Geri Judges Popstars July 1, 2005
Permalink | Discuss (1)

From The Editor: Sorry this news article is actually incorrect. It showed up as "new" in my daily news sources and I posted it without realizing it's actually a few years old. My apologies. Thanks to Jer & Mike for pointing this out.

Geri has been confirmed as one of the judges for the forthcoming series of 'Popstars', the UK TV show which spawned Hear'Say.

The former Spice Girl turned solo star will join music industry figure Pete Waterman on the panel, with 'Big Brother' host Davina McCall presenting. However, despite the rumours, media mogul Chris Evans will not appear.

The new sets of shows, which begin in September and will conclude in December, are to be titled 'Popstars: The Rivals' and will bid to create two groups - a boy band and girl band - in a pop 'battle of the sexes', reports the BBC.

Appearing alongside Halliwell and Waterman will be pop svengali Louis Walsh, the man behind the likes of Westlife, Samantha Mumba, Boyzone and Ronan Keating.

Speaking about the new series, Waterman commented: "I think it is going to be a lot of fun and we promise not to be as nasty as we were before. There will be a lot more people taking the mickey than before but we will give as good as we get.

"And when you go for a specific challenge like the Christmas Number One then you have got to cheat."

Talking about her new role, Halliwell said: "I'm just going to be myself. I think I'll be honest but with compassion".
