From The Editor: Sorry this news article is actually incorrect. It showed up as "new" in my daily news sources and I posted it without realizing it's actually a few years old. My apologies. Thanks to Jer & Mike for pointing this out.
Geri has been confirmed as one of the judges for the forthcoming series of 'Popstars', the UK TV show which spawned Hear'Say.
The former Spice Girl turned solo star will join music industry figure Pete Waterman on the panel, with 'Big Brother' host Davina McCall presenting. However, despite the rumours, media mogul Chris Evans will not appear.
The new sets of shows, which begin in September and will conclude in December, are to be titled 'Popstars: The Rivals' and will bid to create two groups - a boy band and girl band - in a pop 'battle of the sexes', reports the BBC.
Appearing alongside Halliwell and Waterman will be pop svengali Louis Walsh, the man behind the likes of Westlife, Samantha Mumba, Boyzone and Ronan Keating.
Speaking about the new series, Waterman commented: "I think it is going to be a lot of fun and we promise not to be as nasty as we were before. There will be a lot more people taking the mickey than before but we will give as good as we get.
"And when you go for a specific challenge like the Christmas Number One then you have got to cheat."
Talking about her new role, Halliwell said: "I'm just going to be myself. I think I'll be honest but with compassion".
