The father of Geri Halliwell's baby today vowed to stand by the former Spice Girl and help raise their baby.
British screenwriter Sacha Gervasi broke his silence about the pregnancy and confirmed that he is having a baby with the pop star.
In a one-lined statement he told the news agency Splash News: "I fully intend to give Geri and the baby all the love and support they need."
Thrilled Geri, 33, reportedly broke her baby news to friends and family during a recent dinner at a restaurant in Los Angeles.
Bearded Gervasi has made a big impact in Hollywood and wrote the Steven Spielberg-directed movie The Terminal, which starred Tom Hanks and Catherine Zeta Jones.
The day after news of Halliwell's pregnancy broke, Gervasi, 39, visited an eatery near his West Hollywood home.
The heavy-set ex-journalist stepped out with a pal to Hugo's restaurant after arriving in his black car.
Friends say that Halliwell is 'thrilled' at becoming pregnant and is ready to be a mum.
Ginger Spice's relationship with low-key Gervasi has taken the world by surprise as she has previously had a string of celebrity boyfriends.
She famously dated fellow-ginger Chris Evans, and has been romanced by singer Robbie Williams and Hollywood actor Jerry O'Connell.
Halliwell has also been linked to Limp Bizkit rocker Fred Durst, American Demian Warner and Coffee Republic boss Bobby Hashemi.
But Gervasi does have a musical background.
He used to play the drums with Gavin Rossdale's rock band Bush before they became famous.
Gervasi turned to scriptwriting after doing an interview with actor Herve Villechaize, who played Tattoo in the 1970s TV series Fantasy Island.
His script caught the attention of movie insiders and helped establish him in Hollywood.
He went on to write and co-produce The Big Tease with Scottish actor and TV host Craig Ferguson.
Gervasi is currently co-writing the movie version of Dallas, which is due to be shot next year.
